Product Description
The Vikings, a fierce sea-faring nation, acquired settlements in the 9th century at the northern tip of Scotland. Researchers found the origin of the surname Wilson (son of Will) by referring to documents such as the Viking manuscripts, parish and baptismal records. They settled the Orkneys, Shetlands, and parts of mainland Scotland, sometimes penetrating as far south as Caithness, and beyond. Notable variants of spelling are Willison and Wilsone, both forms being those of families well established in the Stirling area by the 18th century.
