Product Description

The clans MacLeod are believed to have come from a Leod who had possession of the islands of Harris and part of Skye. He married a daughter of the Norse king of Skye, MacArailt who held Dunvegan and much of Skye. His two sons, Tormod and Torquil, founded the two main branches of the Clan MacLeod, Siol Tormod and Siol Torquil. Descendants of Torquil held the lands of the Isle of Lewis until the early 17th Century when the Mackenzie’s successfully overthrew them with the aid of the Morrisons, and the MacLeods of Harris. Leod, according to tradition, died around 1280 and was buried on the island of Iona, where six successive chiefs of the clan found a last resting-place after him.

Highland Clan Flags are intended for indoor or outdoor use. The flags are made from 70 denier high tenacity nylon, chosen for durability and ability to meet our exacting color standards. A rigourous process ensures colours are locked in for long use, and all edges are double stitched for added strength.

Our clan flags are packaged in robust, clear plastic sleeves that both display and protect the contents - perfect for gifts!

Each package includes a fine printed scroll offering an outline of your Clan's history.

*Please note: this Macleod of Harris Clan Flag is only available in the 54" x 27" Flag style. Other sizes can be custom made. Please contact The Flag Shop for more information.
