Product Description
The Gordons had their Scottish origin in the Berwickshire lands of Gordon. Here, as a Norman family, they became settled under David I and retained estates for three centuries. The earliest recording of the name comes from 1150 when Richard, Baron of Gordon, granted lands to the monks of St. Mary. The name Huntly is also used to refer to Gordons, due to their ownership of Castle Huntley. Sir Adam de Gordon was one of the ambassadors who conveyed to the Pope the 1320 Declaration of National Independence.
